Incisional hernia. Is the mesh uncomfortable inside? Do you experience pain from it? |
I have a large incisional hernia that I have waited a year to have repaired because of fear of a reoccurance. I read 50% of people who have incisional hernias repaired have to have them done over again. My surgeon says this percentage is cut down to 4-8% with tension free mesh repair. I am also worried that this rough scratchy feeling thing will feel uncomfortable inside of me. If you have had this done could you please let me know what your experiences have been? You will not feel the mesh. You have sub-q "fat" that will cover the mesh. Someone answered you might have a surgical instrument left inside of you, very doubtful since they will not open the peritoneum and the instruments will be easy to see. Also, the people in surgery do three counts when closing the incision. You will probably have laprascopy meaning they will do it through small incisions using a scope to see the hernia along with instruments to put the mesh in. The human body does not have nerve endings inside where your mesh would be, so it is not possible for you to feel it. |
