my friend once told me to put a small bit of toothpaste onto a pimple before you go to bed. Then when you wake up, wash your face with a cleanser and wash away toothpaste. I tried it once, and it worked a bit & cleared up the swelling and the redness. But I wouldn't suggest useing this method for acne thats all over your face, just maybe a large pimple or two.

There are none that work well. The more you rub your face the worse it will flair up. One thing you can try that is soothing is to wash your face with a mild liquid soap and warm water, rinse and pat face to dry. Use some soft tissue with a little bit of Witch Hazel. It is mild, and slightly astringent. Never use alcohol.
