Is hepatitis a curable? bout B? how is hepatitis a and b transmitted?

i have a very intelligent friend..he graduated as a marine engineer as a *** laude..yet he can't board to the ship because of his illness..i just want to know more about hepatitis..please,share some knowledge..

Hepatitis A and E are short-lived like the flu. They are usually mild, but in certain people can be life-threatening. You get them from unclean conditions, like contaminated food or water. (Don't eat the salad in southern mexico).

Hepatitis B and C are long term and are not curable. They are both transmitted by needle sharing or sexual intercourse. You can live with them chronically, but the biggest danger is either progressing to liver failure and cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). There are various drugs people take to try to keep the inflammation at bay (Interferon, TNF-alpha).

Vaccines are available for Hepatitis A and B.

hepatitis is transmitted through sexual intercourse or needles, it cannot be cured... sorry!
