Can my hepatitis B girlfriend be treated?

I have been told by my girlfriend of 2yrs that she had hepatitis B long before we had intercourse. We had used condoms every time we make love so this is not an issue. Is there any medication to totally get rid of her hepatitis B virus?

Yes, there's a new drug recently approved for hep b. It is also used for hep c treatment, and it's having good results with B. It's called Pegasys, made by Roche Pharmaceuticals. It 's very expensive, but if she has good health insurance, it should cover it. If she doesn't, she can apply for the patient assistance program from Roche called Pegassist. Sorry to tell u that... there isn't any medication for totally get rid of it. But my advice is ask her to keep herself healthy so that she's body can prevent the virus from growing stronger. The best thing you can do is get yourself vaccinated so you don't have to worry about getting it yourself.
