Hepatitis A???

my birthday was last week and my friend daria was there and also five more persons.Later that week she was diagnosed with hepatitis A.Is there any risk that she transmited it to me and my guests?

Yes, it is possible, especially if food was served. Hepatitis A is spread by the fecal-oral route, so I would assume there is a good chance everyone is okay.

Check with your doctor, in the US, Hepatitis A vaccine was added (in 2005) to the routine childhood immunization schedule for children aged 12 to 23 . You may have been immunized.

Hepatitis A is an acute (short-term) infection that is rarely fatal. Since it is more severe among adults, they should contact their doctors also.

You could also get hepatitis A by

* eating food that has been prepared by someone with hepatitis A

* drinking water that has been contaminated by hepatitis A (in parts of the world with poor hygiene and sanitary conditions)
