Hemorrhoids???

anyone have any home remedys for relieving the pain. My husband has a HUGE one and prep-h just isn't doing the trick and of course all docs are out for the weekend. Any ideas would be great!!

DON'T USE ICE--the idiot above doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Ice will make the rrhoid hurt even more.

The best thing your hubby can do is get into a hot bathtub--as hot as he can stand. Believe it or not the treatment for rrhoids is hot water, not cold.

Now if that doesn't give relief, he may have to have a doctor take action to remove the bulging vein (which is what a hemorrhoid is).

For long term treatment, your husband needs to change his dietary habits--increase the fiber, losen his stool. He's probably been constipated, sits on the john too long, strains to pass a stool all of which causes strain on the blood vessels in the anal ring, they naturally start to bulge, causing the rrhoids.

If he's prone to them, they will recur, the best thing he can do for the long term is eat better.

Sometimes a hemorrhoid that won't shrink will actually burst, although the blood will be a bit alarming, it will give relief (I am not suggesting he try anything like popping his hemorrhoid however). I've had one break and got immediate relief. All he does is keep the area clean (without doing a lot of rubbing) and it will heal just fine.
