Hemorrhoids problem, serious replies only please?

Ok, please no jokes. I have a problem with hemorrhoids which has been ongoing for years. The problem has gotten worse than ever and the pain is unbearable. One of the vessels is swollen and beet red and causing lots of pain. I have tried creams, tucks pads and even soaking in epsom salts baths for hours with no releif. I have been to doctors and they are no help. How do I get the pain to stop so I can at least sleep? Please help.

I had the same problem with my doctors on this issue. They told me they could "band" them to remove them but it would do me no good because they would only grow back so talked me out of doing it. All they ever accually did was shove a finger up my rump and sent me home with a script to rub prep-h on it which was a total waste.
I'm still looking for a cure for the pain myself, if you find a good one, let the rest of us know.

Banding them DOES work. Had it done 10 years ago. Painless and no recurrence. Go to rectal specialist only. Report It

My uncle had them pretty bad and my father in law and they had surgery to remove them!! Maybe if they are that bad you should do that!! It was surgery so ask your doctor if dont know you need a new doctor!! Have you ever been tested for Chrones Disease??

I always heard use a banana peel to ease the pain. I don't know if it's true or not. I do know some people have tried it and claimed it worked. Maybe try that.

Good luck!

Your doctor should be treating that more aggressively. I had a friend who just consulted with a gastroenterologist and his doctor gave him prescription cream for the pain. His doctor also told him there are many treatments that get rid of them all together. There is one procedure where they take a small "rubber band", put it tightly around the hemorrhoid, and it cuts off the blood supply and kills the hemorrhoid. It just dies off and the pain goes away. There is also laser surgery too which is almost painless. More like discomfort and well worth it. time for you to see a different doctor (maybe even a proctologist?) and seek out help from a different doctor. I'm sorry you have so much pain!

I can't understand that Dr's are no help. That is ridiculous. Unless there are special reasons to not operate they should. Don't let yourself be pissed off. Stand your ground. How can you enjoy life with this? If necessary, go to Mexico. Make a complaint to the health Board. Have a sit in with a knife to your wrist. Anything. But force them to do something.

My dad had them pretty bad and was referred to a proctologist. The proctologist did outpatient surgery on him. It helped him A LOT, as his hole was much smaller than normal, and the doctor widened it. It was slightly painful for a few days, but he went home a few hours after he woke up from the anesthesia and he had fewer problems with hemherroids.

Have you seen specialist? A GI (gastrointestinal) Dr? Not being rude, but is constipation a problem? If yes, that compounds hemorrhoids. Try Magnesium Citrate (available at every pharmacy over the counter) if you have not limitations on diet, electrolytes. And do not follow their instructions to drink 1/2-1 bottle. A mouthful is enough for the average person. If no, may be time for hemorroidectomy...the only cure for recurring problems. Try the Mag-Citrate AND the cream combined.....see if you don't get some relief.

Did you try ice? I work in maternity, where lots of the new mothers have this problem, and they love the ice packs we put on their hemorrhoids because it soothes the pain. Also, if your stomach is OK with it, try an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication, like Ibuprofen or Aleve (which is the best imo).
There are also numbing sprays that you can buy over the counter that are for cuts or injuries that you can spray on them and maybe help the pain.
Of course, surgery is ultimately the most permanent solution. It's often done right in the doctor's office, or at the very worst, as an outpatient procedure in the hospital.
Hope this helps. Good luck : )

Another thing with the sitz baths that may be of help instead of epsom salts is using baking soda and/or sea salt. I would definitely get another opinion from a gastroenterologist or a proctologist (doctor that treats disorders of the rectum) if you haven't already to see what additional ideas they may have for you.

What I do with the sitz baths when I do them for my hemorrhoid is do it in warm/hot (but not hot enough to burn myself) water for about 15 minutes.

hemorrhoids are a mass of dilated veins. In many instances the only therapy required is improvement in anal hygiene and administration of a stool softeners to prevent straining to have a bowel movement. I would also try the sitz bath along with creams. I would be looking for me another Doctor since yours is not very compassionate. When all fails coat them well in vaseline.
Do not take it upon yourself to but a band around them.

I hope you find another Doctor and get well soon!
