Any hemophilia experts out there...? |
Alrighty... I'm doing a project for Bio on hemophilia, and I need a bit more information than I've been able to find. First off, I cannot find ANY information on current research, and I highly doubt that there HASN'T been any. I think the most recent information was from 2003 which helps, but isn't nearly enough. Secondly, what is the cause of it? I already know about the low levels of clotting factors, etc. etc., but what CAUSES those low levels? What is inherited (or acquired) that causes it? A mutation of some sort? Hemophilia is a sex linked disorder as it occurs on the X chromosome inherited from the mother, so, therefore mostly boys have it. My little buddy Slade has both severe hemophilia and leukemia. His mom gave me these websites, check them out, they have tons of information, keep in mind, there is more than one type of hemophilia. |
