Can only guys get hemophilia??

I have a blood disorder, and I am a girl but I am wondering could it be hemophilia??

It can happen to anybody - check with your doctor to find out if yours is hemophilia. There are other blood disorders as well, such as sickle-cell anemia. That's a disorder where the red bood cells change shape and can't carry oxygen as well as they should be able to.

soaplady99ca is incorrect in saying that it only effects men. If the father of a child has the trait, and the mother of a child is a carrier, and the mother passes the chromosome with the trait, then a female can get it - X(defect)X(defect) would result in a female with the defect.

Hemophilia can only affect men, but interestingly enough it's passed on by women down the maternal line. So, no, you can't have hemophilia.

A good example is the Russian royal family. The youngest son of Czar Nicolas had hemophilia passed on by his mother through Queen Victoria.

well first find out exactly what blood disorder u have by consulting the doctor . as regards to ur query regarding hemophilia, ur doubt is agenuine one . hemophilia is in medical terms an X-linked recessive disease which most commonly seen in young boys. in extrmely rare conditions it can occur in females- a condition doctors call as ABNORMAL LYONISATION. also hemophilia is of various types ; hemophilia A being the most common.the A variety is again of 3 types- mild moderate and severe; and its only in severe variety that it is very troublesome and can be fatal. THEREFORE I RECOMMEND U TO FIRST FIND OUT WHAT BLOOD DISORDER U HAVE RATHER THAN GOING INTO DETAILS OF A PARTICULAR DISEASE AND THINK WHETHER U COULD HAVE IT . TAKE CARE .GOOD BYE.

Theoretically, females could get hemophilia but it's typically fatal for them. It's a sex-linked recessive trait so you have to have either 2 affected X chromosomes or 1 affected X and a Y (male).

In your case, if your father does not have hemophilia, you do not have it because you got one X chromosome from him and if the one he has is healthy, you can't have the disease.
