How is hemophilia transmitted?

How is hemophilia transmitted?

it is genetic

it only normally affects men. This is because it is the X sex chromosome that is faulty. Because males have an XY combination, one fauly X chromosome will cause the disease (because there is no 'back up copy', if you will)

Because females have an XX chromosom, there IS a back up copy. For a girl to have heamophilia both parents must give her a fauly X chromosome. This is, of course, much more unlikely.

it is genetic

It's genetic, not communicable. You can't "catch" it, you have to inherit it.

My step son has hemophilia and it is heredity.
