What is hemophilia? |
My 7yr. old gets tons of nose bleeds, 3 this week & when he sneezes now. my understanding is that it is when the blood does not clot or thicken like it should. hemohilia is when blood doesnt clot right. im not sure whats wrong with your son, but that doesnt sound like it. Haemophilia or hemophilia is the name of any of several hereditary genetic illnesses that impair the body's ability to control bleeding. Genetic deficiencies (or, very rarely, an autoimmune disorder) cause lowered plasma clotting factor activity so as to compromise blood-clotting; when a blood vessel is injured, a scab will not form and the vessel can continue to bleed excessively for a very long period of time. The bleeding can be external, if the skin is broken by a scrape, cut or abrasion, or it can be internal, into muscles, joints or hollow organs. It might therefore present visibly as skin bruises, or subtly as melena, hematuria, or bleeding in the brain. Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder where you have very thin blood that will not clot. Ask your doctor for vitiman K shots. Hemophilia is a disorder when your blood doesnt clot properly because you are lacking a protein in your blood, called a factor. Factor 8 and 9 deficiencies are the most common. But, your son, if anything, probably has von Willebrand disease, the most common inherited bleeding disorder. One of the most common symptoms of von Willebrand disease is frequent and prolonged nosebleeds. Okay hemophilia is when you can possibly die from a little cut on your finger if you have it severely enough!! You would bleed to death!! hemophilia is a genetically transmited diseas (often carried by mothers) where the blood does not carry enough platlets to clot when a wound forms. This means that simples cuts and scrpes can bleed like crazy for hours. Also, bruises can be unbearable for someone who has it because it means that the bleeding inside the body is also a lot worse Hemophillia is a disease when the blood does not clot. Small cuts and scratches can bleed copious amounts of blood. Haemophilia is when your blood does not clot. So with a cut you continue to bleed and will need clotting medication and possibly a transfusion. Nearly always males and present from birth. Hemophilia is a rare bleeding disorder that prevents the blood from clotting properly. Hemophiliais an inherited bleeding disorder where the blood does not clot... children with hemophilia may bleed for a longer time than others after an injury or accident, they also may bleed internally, especially in the joints knees, ankles, and elbows. Children born with hemophilia are missing or have a low level of a protein called the clot factor....Hemophilia usually occurs only in males... If you child is seven and has not had this issue before it is highly unlikely he has classic hemophilia. There are some milder clotting disorders that may surface later in life, like von Willebrand's disease, after trauma or certain medications. Hemophilia is an inherited blood disorder in which the blood does not clot properly. It is carried by the mother on the X chromosome, but shows up in their male offspring (it is recessive, so a female offspring having one affected X and one normal X will be only a carrier, rather than a sufferer of the disorder). If you suspect that your son is a hemophiliac, you should seek treatment for him at once. Hi |
