What is hemophilia?

My 7yr. old gets tons of nose bleeds, 3 this week & when he sneezes now.

my understanding is that it is when the blood does not clot or thicken like it should.

hemohilia is when blood doesnt clot right. im not sure whats wrong with your son, but that doesnt sound like it.

probably just getting a lot of nosebleeds right now i went through a period when i had one about 4 times a week. and i would sneeze the scabs or clots out and it would bleed again. but just to be safe you could take him or her to the doctor.

If you child is seven and has not had this issue before it is highly unlikely he has classic hemophilia. There are some milder clotting disorders that may surface later in life, like von Willebrand's disease, after trauma or certain medications.

Chronic nosebleed or severe ones that are hard to stop merit a doctor's exam, because while they usually are just due to dry, irritated membranes, there are some serious conditions this can signal. One of them is leukemia.

Get this child seen as soon as possible. He will be much more comfortable if the cause is found and treated, and you will have more peace of mind. Be careful to give a good history, including how many bleeds, how long they lasted, what provoked them, if anything, and what medications he takes, even over the counter ones.

Whatever the cause, the sooner it is found, the better for everyone.

I used to suffer with bleeding nose all the time when I was young, Usualy in hot weather.I would go to a reputable doc for some answers and don't worry too much.
I am happy yo say that I grew out of it by 10 yrs old, I hope your son does too.
