How should dentist manage patients with hemophilia? |
How should dentist manage patients with hemophilia? My son gets a dose each of clotting factor and Amicar before dental work. He also has to take amoxil because of his port-a-cath. very carefully , however i would get in contact with the boy or girls personal doctor to see what can and cannot be done , by the way there is different types of hemophilia , the patient might be severe or hemophilia a he needs to send that patient to lab to see the factor VIII and supply him with that factor if needed, better to be done in hospital rather than a clinic hemophilia - bleeding disorder. if the patient has hemophilia, the dentist cannot perform any procedure right ahead. The patient should ask for a medical clearance first from his physician. If the patient really needs the treatment, it should be done in a hospital set-up, with the patient's physician and other hospital staff. If you type "dental care hemophilia" into a search engine, you will get over 25,000 resources. |
