?Is one particular group of people affected by hemophilia?

women carry the gene but generally don't suffer from hemophilia.. men suffer from hemophilia.
Basically, because the "problem" is on the X chromisome. Women have two X's.. therefore BOTH are not likely to be "Bad" and she won't have hemophilia, becasuse the "good X" will do what the "bad x" isn't doing. But if she has a son.. she has given him an X.. his only one. So if she gave him her "bad X" he will have hemophilia, because HE doesn't have another X.

But it is possible for a girl to get two "bad X's" and therefore be hemophiliac.. especially if her mother is a carrier and her father is hemophiliac.

it was traced back to Queen VIctoria of England. She was a carrier.. her sons had hemohpilia, her daughters gave it to THEIR sons.. and it spread to every European Royal fam ily that way.. (alot of intermarrying) For example, the last Czar of Russia had a hemophiliac son.. No wonder!! His (Czar) wife was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria!

So it's called the "royal" disease
