One of the most famous hemophiliacs was Russian Prince Tsarevitch Alexei, killed along with all his family during the Russian revolution in 1917. The disease had been passed to him by his mother, a daughter of Queen Victoria.

Probably the most famous was Ryan White, who had hemophilia and then contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion. He brought AIDS to the forefront and people had to realize that it wasn't simply a homosexual disease. He received attention from numerous celebrities, and used that fame to help people become educated about it.
