How long can a person live on hemodialysis.?

How long can a person live on hemodialysis.?

I'm am 37 years old and I just celebrated 15 straight years on hemodialysis....with no transplant. It can be done.

Indefinitely.

Meaning there is no defined upper limit.

I know a number of people who have been on dialysis for years.

They generally don't do kidney transplants on older people, so an 80-year-old woman I know will be on dialysis for the rest of her life.

Some people do better in dialysis than others. A lot of them live pretty normal lives.

my maw-maw lived 5 years on hemodialysis, it was 13 years ago she died, they have made a ton of improvements since then so probably longer, My mom told me they drain all the blood out of her run it through a machine and pump it back into the body, they pretty much take you till you are almost dead and then revive you, its horrible, but it may extend your life longer, good luck and I hope this person does well! 鈾?/div>
