What are the chances of living for patients undergoing hemodialysis?


for patients with kidney failure

...this really depends upon WHY they are having kidney failure.

For most things, like diabetes, a patient can live for years undergoing hemodialysis weekly. When they first undergo it, thier "chances of living" through the proceedure is nearly 100%.

There are many other things that can lead to hemodialysis that may end up being lethal to the patient before undergoing hemodialysis.

Hemodialysis simply removes poisons from the body when the kidney can no longer do this on its own. You die from the poisons, not from hemodialysis.

Complications of hemodialysis leading to death are fairly rare, but all depends upon the underlying condition of the patient. It is a fairly taxing procedure for patients who are very weak...
