What is hemodialysis?

id like to know what it is and about how much it cost?

this link will tell you about hemodialyses but about how much it really differ from country to other and town to town and from even center to other http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemodialysi...

Hemodialyis is a procedure which filters the blood in patients who have kidney failure. The job of the kidneys is to filter the blood from wastes and excrete these wastes through the urine. When the kidneys fail for whatever reason, they lose the ability to filter the blood. This leads to a buildup of waste in the blood which can damage other organs. Hemodialysis is an invasive procedure in which 2 catheters are inserted into a vein. 1 catheter removes the blood from the patient and sends it through the dialysis machine which filters the blood (it does a similar job to the kidney). Once the blood is filtered and the waste is removed, the blood is returned to the patient via the 2nd catheter.
The hemodialysis process takes several hours. Nurses monitor the patient as blood pressure can drop during the procedure.

If patients need long term hemodialysis, surgeons can place permanent catheters in the vein to prevent having to be constantly stuck with needles everytime they have dialysis (which is usually 3 times per week).

Cost would depend on your insurance coverage, can't answer that for you.
