Hemochromatosis?

I am a male and i was just diagnosed with hemochromatosis.... I went to the doctor because my eyes were turning yellow and first he thought it was hepatitis b, and so on, i was also having chest pains, dark urine, etc.The doctor said it was normal and to go on with my life....Now, a year later, i went back to the doctor because i was scared because my chest pains were worse and so on. He did a blood test, and found out something, so he sent me to a blood specialist. The blood specialist did a lot of blood test and diagnosed me with thalassemia, which i already knew i had, and hemochromatosis. My iron level is the highest the doctor had ever seen (250). i now have to go in the hospital every month for the rest of my life to get my blood removed. It sucks man. Anyways my questions is that my sex life has gone WAYYY down ever since i have been diagnosed and had chest pains ( about the past 2 years) When my iron levels go down, will my symptoms disappear? I hope so this ******** sucks!

I read medical info on the web and watch T.V shows just the other day I read about both of those disease because I was ruling out some health problems I have been having. and I saw an episode on house about a kid who either has what you have or something very similar with the iron and the draining of the blood. Not really related to your subject.

I am no doctor but I know sense they will be treating you that some of the side effects should go always or at least get a little better. Also even though you don't want to think about it you will probably get more used to this later in life because some of your problems could be stress related and I do not blame you. Its not a fun sickness to have.

I do know you should ask your doctor about your sexual side effects and the doctor can tell you if it will improve or if anything can be done to help out like medication to help symptoms

Sorry to hear about your problem I hope everything goes as well as it can.

A relative of mine got her iron under control, her arthritis went away Hopefully this will help you with your other problems as your iron is normalized. A good reference site on this disease is http://www.squidoo.com/Heredit... Report It
