HEMOCHROMATOSIS~have you heard of this before?

Yes; hemochromatosis is a condition (usually a hereditary one) in which the body stores too much iron. It tends to build up in various organs, and if too much builds up, you will have organ damage, or even organ failure in time. The condition is treated by removing blood from the body, very much like a person donates blood; it's necessary that a person suffering from hemochromatosis do this every few months to keep his/her iron below toxic levels.

no what is it?

You have too much iron in your blood. Without treatment, the disease can cause the liver, heart, and pancreas to fail. Based on the severity of the iron overload, a pint of blood will be taken once or twice a week for several months to a year. Your iron level will be monitored and require periodic blood work.

Genetic condition where your body doesn't store iron properly. This leads to iron build up over time in various organs including (but not limited to) the skin and pancreas. The skin iron leads to a bronze appearance, and the pancreas iron leads to diabetes. Thus the term for this disease, "Bronze Diabetes."
