What is my chance that I have a hemochromatosis, when my parents dont? |
What is my chance that I have a hemochromatosis, when my parents dont? Usually, hemochromatosis is hereditary, passing to the next generation like the color of eyes, or hair. I know a little bit about this because I made a lot of researches, somebody from my country has this condition and i tried to help him, but his liver was already gone. Now , you dont have to despair, if this is a early stage , you can control it without damaging your organs. When I spoke to my Doctor he left me under the impression that it was mostly hereditary so if you gave it in any of your family be weary almost all of my aunts and uncles and cousins have it , my father carries the genes and we have had alot of deaths due to this illness being undiagnosed. Becareful and get tested. If they are your biological parents, one of them has to carry the mutation on gene HFE. So I would put the odds of them not carrying it at 5%. |
