Do you have genetic hemochromatosis?

If you do you know it. Let me know how you are being treated for it and if you've had any health issues because of it. (If you don't know what it is, you don't have it.)

Yes I carry 1 of the hemochromatosis genes along with both my son and daughter.

My father was dieegnosied about 4 years back he carries all 3 of the genes.

If you have been tested and are a carrier of 2 or more genes the treatment he has to go thru is blood draws. Hemochromatosis also
called IOD iron overload disorder effects your liver it basicly means you have to much iron on your blood. Stay away from Vitamane C this was one of the things that caused is ferratin level to elevate. He had a cold and was taking a lot of V-C as we all grew up knowing to do.

In the beginning he had to go to weekly blood draws I forget the amount that had to take. This is how the lower the iron levels in his system. After a couple years as the labs got better readings he now goes every 2 to 4 weeks.

After the years only side effect is its hard to get a vain now for his draws.

You need to stay away from iron foods spinich, liver etc. and NO vitiamane C. have your doctor check your blood levels every year make sure aware that there is a gentice disorder on your family There are a few special labs and I can't remember besides the ferratine.

With my kids even thow they only have 1 of the genes I still request labs every year and compare for any changes. I also keep them away from high iron or should say limit to everyonce in a while and i read vitamane lables for multi low V-C because they still need something.

As for adults you should not smoke, or drink and stay away from those foods my fathers did'nt activate till his late early 60's but everyone is differant I have read articales of young pepole also exspecially men. most common in european decent.

The internet has a more info just surch plus there are some books out there.
Good Luck
