My mum has Helicobacter pylori..............? |
My mum has Helicobacter pylori (we think) and were going on holiday tomorrow, ive bin living as normal for weeks now (she has had it for around a week) but my stomache feels a little off and i feel quite tierd...ive heard that worrying can also make you feel like this or could this be caused by H.pylori? I HAVE COME IN ABSOLUTLEY NO CONTACT WITH HER ONLY BY WALKING PAST HER AND TALKING. Two thirds of the world's population have H. pylori in their stomach, so you certainly might, too. The question is whether you have symptoms that might get better with treatment for H. pylori. If so, then the question is how far to go to confirm the diagnosis before treating you. Blood antibodies are an imperfect test. Endoscopsy may or may not be worth the effort compared to just treating you. A doctor's judgment is necessary. You are obviously already on your vacation - hope you are enjoying your time. When you get home, please go for a simple blood test to see if you have the h.pylori (It seems that your mom should go too as you say ''we think she has it"). It can only be eradicated with a triple therapy of 2 antibiotics and an acid reducer taken for 2 weeks. |
