Is a stool test for helicobacter pylori more accurate than any other test?

Because I don't know why the hell my doctor wants me to **** in a cup instead of just ordering a blood or breath test. Is it more accurate or something? I had over 9 vials of blood drawn the other day to test for everything from thyroid problems to mono to anemia, all just because I'm having acid reflux AFTER I WAS ON SUPER HIGH DOSES OF PREDNISONE! Uh, hello! Could that be the cause?!!?!?! *rolls eyes* I KNOW that I don't have ulcers caused by the helicobacter pylori, as does she, but she's just being a ******* douche bag.

Anyway, I'm irritated that I have to **** in a cup. It's ******* embarrassing and stupid. It's also a HUGE inconvenience to have to drive over 45 minutes to the hospital to drop it off. She seems like a ******* wack-job to me.

What do you think? Thanks a lot.

I found a link for you that describes all the tests.

Apparently, the breath test is about as accurate as the stool test. The drawback of the breath test is that you have to swallow a radioactive compound, which means it probably has to be done in the nuclear medicine department of a hospital. The blood test is less accurate, since it will show positive if you have had H. pylori before and recovered.

Doctors ask for stool samples all the time, and often forget how disgusting all of us patients think it is. Under the circumstances, the stool test seems to be the simplest and most likely to yield usable results.

Prednisone can cause ulcers. If you have H. pylori, the ulcers are unlikely to go away on their own.

This sounds like a rather extensive workup for reflux, which most patients treat on their own with over-the-counter medications. Other than that, I don't consider your doctor to be a whack job.
