I have a heel injury, how can I speed up the healing?

I was thinking of using ice. I tried that, but it didn't help. Maybe again? I got this injury about two weeks ago from going back into conditioning. It's from overrunning. I haven't given it much rest, so it hasn't healed much. I used some pain relievers. That helped a little, but I had did more running and that didn't help. I need it to heal asap cuz I have soccer and cross country. It's not from anything major, I just haven't given it enough rest. Now I need a way to heal faster, basically. With ice? Anyways, please help. Thanks.

I'll try that too fdsg

The fastest way for it to heal is to rest it. Overworking it would cause the area to become chronically inflamed and keep it from healing totally. Pain is a signal that a body part is injured. Pain medications will only give you a false and temporary sense of comfort. You'll cause more injury if you vigorously exercise it before it's completely healed.

Ice only works for immediate injuries/sprains. For chronic sprains use a heat pack. I strongly suggest you rest it, apply heat packs for about 20 minutes a couple of times a day, and take the pain relievers only if the pain is intolerable even while resting. Consult a physiatrist (rehabilitation doctor) or orthopedist, plus a physical therapist to guide you through the proper exercises as you're healing.

lol tnx ;-) anyhow i hope what i said above helped Report It
