How can i start running again?

i recently recovered from a heel injury. my heel is fully cured and it doesn't hurt anymore. for about 3 1/2 weeks I've been inactive, and when i tried to run around a couple of days ago and yesterday it was my calves that were killing. obviously this is from not running in a while but what can i do for the next week or so in order to run around without having any pain?

i would like to get in shape to play in full basketball for next weekend, can i get a more detailed answer please?

Take it slow and don't forget to stretch. With your heel injury, many muscles must be tight. Stretch - do yoga poses that stretch calves and feet.

Build up slowly and steadily.
good luck.

you start with one foot going in front of another.....repeat over and over and a gradually faster pace. pretty soon, you're running.

Just build yourself up, start walking first until your calfs recover and no longer strain, they start slow jogs and gradually build up to running again

I pulled a hipflexer last year, and it took it that same amount of time to heal. I would try doing light exercise, don't start running just yet so you reinjure yourself, walk, lift, you know you're own limits. After doing some small exercises for a week or 2 you'll be ready and warmed up for the running.

What kind of running do you do? I ran Cross Country and Indoor track in highschool. I plan on running some marathons that are coming up. I've always loved running. Hope everything goes well and Good luck! I hope this helps!

Take it slow. Get your body used to running again. Start taking short walks then build speed through out the weeks. You're body will get back in its groove and you will be back running again.

The best way to get back from a heel injury is to have your doctor send you to PT. PT will be able to get all of the srrounding muscles all toned up again to withstand normal activities and running. Each and every session they will push more and more until you get to the point where you're maxed out. They will never push you more than what you can handle. It takes some time, but you'll get back. Another option is to get some custom inserts which will help support your foot. You can get these fitted by your nearest podiatrist.
