JOGGING is injurious?

I consider this stage a forum !
Running in a childhood is a natural act where they run around playing, falling etc. It is natural in that sense ! But when we grow up, running should not neccessarily become an activity to be linked to HEALTHY LIVING. The end result of running enthusiast, or a sprinter ( who wants a personal milestone), footballers or hocky players or any running games is INJURIES. Should human be educated to then walk rather then running? Jungle inhibitants, if you see them walking or running they do so with flexed hips and knees. Observe how we run on tracts and gardens? So the art of running naturally NOW is modified with a dangerous HEEL-STRIKE. I thank those of you who have responded to this topic. We need to dwel on it more. Perhaps we could make this changes in the surrounding society. "Stop running & Jogging and Prevnt injuries". Running in children and running in adults have two different mind-sets all together. A wise respons to this is much appreciated.

Jogging obviously increases the impact forces on the heel, ankle, knee, hip, and low back. That is why the fitness industry has come up with the eliptical machine and other similar machines that are "low impact." However, I do not believe that jogging is responsible for an increase in injury rates. The type of shoe one wears, the terrain one runs on, the biomechanics of one's foot, all play a factor in overuse injuries in running. People must be more aware of these factors in order to avoid overuse injuries due to running. So many casual runner choose a shoe based on its looks rather than what shoe is designed for their specific type of running style. Runner's world (runnersworld.com) regularly puts out a list of shoes dedicated to a specific foot type which may be helpful to many runners. I do agree that running/jogging increases the impact forces on the joints of the body, but I believe with proper mechanics and footwear, the injuries can be minimized. An athletic trainer, physical therapist or orthotist trained in gait assessment can be helpful in assessing one's gait and recommending proper footwear and training protocols to minimize injury. As an athletic trainer I belive that running is no more harmful than any other activity if done properly.

That is probably why we use jogging shoes

Running with the proper shoes can mean the difference between injuries and bone & joint health...
also the way a person runs can have an effect on feet, knees, back, etc.
as with any exercise program, a doctor should be consulted, and a licensed physical therapist can help with running styles...

I do not think so . Jogging is a vital factor in improving our physical health . A jogger does not always fall to injuries and it is only on rare occasions that he stumble to the ground . Therfore it can only be a myth associated with jogging . It helps us feel fit and strong and the positive aspect of jogging can easily offset the negative aspect that it might result in an injury . Therefore do not hesitate to jog .

Jogging is NOT dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not injurious, unless you got some other physical problems.

on hard surface.....NO..... it causes unnecessary load on Ligaments on soft surfaces like grass & sand ...it strenghens the muscles & joints but should be done in moderation

Not at all except for heart patients.
