Possible Back/Spinal Injury? |
I was playing basketball and while chasing a loose ball, the front of my foot slipped and my heel hit the ground with such an incredible impact that i felt it in my spine. I kept playing basketball for about an hour afterwards, but the whole rest of the day I could barely move. The next day after a good nights sleep it felt much better, but as the day progressed it felt worse. I am more mobile now, but I dont have the same movement as I used to. I am only 19 years old? is this a serious injury? should I see a doctor? Well it dose seem like a serious thing. If it has only been a few days, well I am sure you are just still sore. But if it is going on more than a week and you are getting plenty of rest, Its well time to see a DR. S.T.A.T. ( sorry I always wanted to say that) it could be something as small as a pulled muscal caused from the way you landed that put to much presher on your back. Or a compressed vertibra. Both can be very serious.I would also try A heating pad and an Ice pack. I hurd something about if you take turns with those it will make your muscals relax and contract, chang about every 15 to 20 min.(I use a bag of frozen pees for my kids bobos. It fits perfect everywere.I hope this helps and I hope you get back to the court soon see a doctor sounds like a hairline fracture takes about 6 weeks to heal on its own without using it! Go see a doctor and/or a chiropractor. Either it could be a strain, or there might be what the latter type docs call a "subluxation" (portion of spine out of alignment). Yes, u shuld see a doctor. If u have a serious spinal injuries, then u wouldnt be able to move ur limbs as well as feeling pain. So dun worry about ur spine. Keep exercising, but not too intense, for the first couple of months (just wanna make sure that u r fully recovered). The impact u had on ur heel, of course, will cause some immobilities at the beggining. However it s posssible from the damage that u earned, will cause some minor damages to ur tibial nerve and possibly bone fractures on ur heel, thus u have limited movements. The best options u can have now is getting ur heel x-ray for details plus some simple examinations on ur heel by simply try to rotate the joint and move all toes around. If u still can perform these movements then u shuld be allright. PS: if u have serious inflammation on ur heel, then try to consult with local doctor for further medications. |
