MY sons knee condition?

k il try and make this as short as possible.

About four months a go my sons knee was very swollen and sore took him to doctors she decided he had an injury(He plays football and a lot of sport) she suggested he rest it for a whole week which i did kept him off school etc. well swelling go's down he go's back to school, no problems about 3 weeks after that it happens again we go back to doctors we get refered to hopital. i took him yesterday and was told he has a condition called CP basically when he walks he is pressing down on the side of his heel which is causing a strain on his knee and its weakened his muscles etc he has been given execises to do to tighten the muscles he has to go back first week of september for foot insoles. My questions are Anyone else heard or suffered from this? Sometimes he is ok no pain at all other days he just sits all day cause of pain. Will he grow out of it or is he going to have this all his life? Iv tryed google but can't find anything on it
ty

I'm not sure what the CP stands for in this case; there are several different conditions listed when I tried to look it up.

You didn't say how old your son is...I assume that he is middle/high school. Osgood-Schlatter is a condition that affects the knees and can be very painful. There are a couple of boys on my son's soccer team that have this problem. Google Osgood Schlatter signs and symptoms of and see if maybe that fits his condition. I did...that is the first thing I thought of when I read your question.

Also, my teen son was having a lot of lower back and leg pain. He is also very active in sports so we thought maybe he was just overdoing it. His doctor couldn't figure out what was causing this for sure and suggested PT. The PT said that he is going through a growth spurt and that his bones are growing faster than the muscles. She worked with him on different stretches other than the normal ones that athletes do. She said that his hamstrings are so tight that doing stretches the wrong way could actually do more damage. The stretches that she taught him to to have made a tremendous improvement on how he feels. Maybe you could check into that??

Call you doctor and ask him these questions. After doing the exercises the muscle should be ok and there should be little to no pain.
