I have knee injury. I need advice.?

I think i have done something to my knee while i was cycling. It is sore around the knee cap.Torn something??? What can i do to make it heel faster 'cos' i want to go cycling and camping in a week. Is this advisable?

There are many components to the knee making it vulnerable for various types of injuries. Many injuries are successfully treated conservatively, while others require surgery to correct. You should see a doctor as soon as possible as this is essential in case you may have suffered a ligament tear. A tear would most likely require surgery if you are looking for a good long-term outlook.

In the meantime, follow a RICE program (an acronym which stands for rest, ice, compression and elevation).

If it is progressively getting worse, definitely see a doc. There are knee supports and aids to help with the pain (now they even have one that has inserts that can either be hot or cold). Just be careful with it, keep it elevated when possible, or work the pain out w/ exercise if you can do it. Seeking professional help is the best route, if you feel it's not that serious, ask the pharmacist for help - pharmacists are so underrated as far as consultation is concerned.
