Please help!!! i can't find answers anywhere on-line... i have a very painful injury?

about a week ago i fell from about 10 to 12 feet and managed to mess my hand up really bad. there is a large gash on the palm of my hand. it hurts to use any part of my hand because of the1 inch chunk that is missing. its starting to scar and i noticed today that i can't bend my fingers back like i normally can. is this something serious or will my hand go back to normal when it heels? should i go to a doctor?

Yes - got to the Dr NOW. Go to the Emergency room!

Yes something is seriously wrong with your hand and you better not wait any longer. If you do, you are being very foolish. You may have damaged the tendons, nerves and muscles. If you wait any longer the damage may be permanant.

Go to a doctor. Sounds like you might have nerve damage.

go to a doctor.immideatly.
this could be serius!!

you should have gone to the doctor when you fell. but its better late then never

when my fingers got f ed up i waited and it healed

I would ask a doctor. Casualty might not be interested because you didn't go straight away.

go to the damn doctor on the spot. that would of been the best solution for you anyway

It'll be fine. It sounds like hamburger hand. Common skateboarding injury. As long as it's not all swollen, it'll be fine. just give it a few weeks.

Yes, of course you should go to a doctor.

Your scar tissue could impair use of your hand. You could have caused nerve damage. It could be broken.

Take some ibuprofen for the inflammation. Put ice on it. And go to your doctor.

DEFINITELY!!!! It probably should have been seen by a doctor when it happened, or if it was, then you really need to go back.

if its a gash you need to go to the hospital. if you fell from that high you need to go to the hospital. you need to go to the hospital twice

Why did you wait a week? Any time you are injured on a work site you go to the foreman and then straight to the Doctor. That way it can be documented and you would be eligible for Workman's comp. By waiting, they can dispute it and say you did it at home.

Could be that you tore a tendon that attaches the muscle to the bone.

If you don't have insurance, call the public health department in your city and ask them about free or low cost doctor clinics. You could also go to the ER, but it will be a big bill (but you can make payments)...or go to an urgent care.

For medications, try Montel's http://www.pparx.org where they will set you up with manufacturer's programs for free or low cost medicines.

Hi, If it's healing, then you should be okay, but if any infection starts, get to a Doctor immediately,
Hope you're ok,
Brenda

My vote is definitely for going to a doctor. If it was just a flesh wound, you wouldn't be having those symptoms. Since it's affecting your hand's motion, it might be affecting your nerves, which is something that needs to be looked at right away. It's better to waste time and money on a doctor, than to jeopardize your hand.

Good luck! :)

Are you kidding me with this Question?! .. GO TO THE DOCTOR..it's really already been to long... Your hand is infected... and way past Neo-sporine... If you do not get to a doctor in the next 24 hours.. Be the time you do go... The only way they will be able to stop the excruciating paid.. will be to Amputate your hand! Do u know what amputate means? if not it means.. They will Cut your **** off.. Also have you heard of Gan Green? this is possible as well... Take yo a$$ to the doctor and stop playin yo.... Before you need a prosthetic..

go see a doctor before scar tissue builds up and it has to be broken down again. it only happened a week ago, so you say, so it's probably not too late, but for your own sake go get it checked out. and missing chunk? that's serious.

You need to see a doctor immediately. I don't mean to scare you but it sounds like you had a serious hand injury and hand injuries tend to heal very poorly on its own because the blood supply is relatively limited compared with the rest of the body especially to broken bones. If it doesn't heal properly, you run the risk of losing mobility that hand. You really need xrays and a hand specialist to check it out.

As the scar comes in your skin is contracting which would prevent you from full extension of your fingers. The remedy may be something as simple as flexion and extension exercises. It may be more seriouse. You should have it looked at to ensure that there is no damage or infection of ligaments, tendons and nerves as these injuries can be difficult to recover from.

Typical man-grin and bear the pain!!! Go to the doctors IMMEDIATELY as you may have nerve damage, infections setting in or need a tetanus jab etc. You should have seen a doctor immediately really but hindsight is a great thing. Go now and get this nasty sounding injury checked out before you lose use of your hand! Good luck.
