Heartburn.....?

I have acid reflux that has been flareing up because of stress and caf. food. It is going into my arm and jaw. Yuck!
I took 300mg of zantaz(my perscription) and 2 malox. Nothing has kicked in yet, and the acid just keeps getting worse. Any tips on anything to take or relive this?

Oh haha. no I'm 19...I know by this point it's not heart related. I went to the E.R. once for this, and they did tests and stuff, but it's reflux.lol thanks though.

I sympathise. It begged doctors for years to prescribe something for my "heartburn" (sometimes brought on by fatty foods, sometimes stress). Doctors just told me to take zantac etc etc. They were such short term fixes.

Finally a doctor sent me to a hospital to stick a proby thing down my throat to have a look around my stomach and found a hyatis hernia.

That was good news and bad news for me! The good news was I wasn't making it up - I had been validated!!! The bad news is you can't fix them. But at least now I get prescribed "Somac" which fixes it instantly every time. I think it flares up a lot less too now (I don't know if that is diet or medication?)

Anyway, you need to get your symptoms diagnosed properly, don't let the docs fob you off like they did me. If they listened to me, I would have got diagnosed at your age! Along time ago!!!

I know that this is stupid, but try taking A couple drinks of milk.

How old are you? If you're over 40, you need to get to the hospital asap.

If you're sure it's not a heart attack, you can call your dr... OR

Gaviscon is, in my mind, the #1 med to take with a sudden attack of heartburn. Taking 4 tablets with a glass of water works wonderfully for my hus.

I take nexium every day. I used to have a problem with acid. Not anymore.

Milk always works for me, for heartburn. None of the otc stuff does crap, except for Immodium. Yes, I know it's not for heartburn, but it has helped many times as well. Prilosec and Zantac are worthless, Maalox isn't much better. Prevacid works, but takes forever unless you take it daily with no skips.
