Heartburn a lot?

Ok, so ever since the last few days, I've noticed I've been experiencing heartburn quite a bit, and I don't understand why. It hurts to bend my back back sometimes bc of this, and it feels better when I lay down. I usually take Rolaids and that helps most of the time...but I don't want to have to depend on that. It hurts up in my chest, too, not my throat. Should I be concerened about this? Or is it maybe normal? Or perhaps could it be growing pains instead of heartburn? How could I prevent heartburn?

Oh, and I am at that time of the month too..could that be why?

The first thing a good doctor would tell you to do is to raise the head of your bed 6 inches. It REALLY helps. Get your Dad or older brother to do it for you. Good luck, hon. :)

i had heartburn for a bit , it is most likley from stress, it can be normal.i took tums for a bit , then i stopped taking it , & i felt alot better,now i dont get it.& it could be (as u suggested)growing pains.u probably shouldnt get heartburn at ur age.but that doesnt mean u cant get it.hope i helped!

Well, I developed heartburn. But, only because I was bulimiac for a year. GO TO A DOCTOR! If you have the feeling after you eat foods, like sauces, pizza, pop, hamburgers, etc. its definatley heartburn! All the doctor will do is give you medicine to take once a day! It works! Even when you eat spicy foods. Btw, rolaids & tums never worked for me, lol.
When I lay down, it's worse! So, maybe it's something else? Also, if it hurts your chest, it might not be hearburn, because heartburn hurts your throat. It feels like acid is coming up into your mouth. It's so gross! I hate it! But, I heard you'll have it for the rest of your life! So, maybe since your just now catching it, you could get rid of it! It might just be that you r eating different foods or more spicy foods! Everybody gets it once or twice, its really no big deal though. Hope that helps!
