How long does heartburn take to heal?

Can anyone help me with my problem here, please? I start to feel the chest pain and i feel like something is pulling from inside of my left stomach for nearly one month already. At first i don't know that i have a heartburn, so i went to a hospital to diagnose for chest problem. The doctor thought it was a muscle problem, so the doctor gave me ibuprofen. After using ibuprofen for a while, i start to feel sharp pain inside my stomach, and that is when i start to realize that i have a heartburn. So i went to a clinic, and the doctor gave me the right medicine for heartburn. But after one week using this medicine, i still feel the left side of my stomach is pulling inside and some sharp pain inside my stomach. Right know i only have the stomach problem, no vomiting, no difficulty in swallowing, just the stomach problem

So, as this is my first time i have heartburn, can anyone tell me how long does it take for heartburn to heal? What food should i take? and does my situation is critical?

I think its a heartburn because before i have it, i remember i drank too many cofee at night and ate chocolate before to bed. When i woke up i drank a cup cofee again. Then one week after that, i start feel the pain.

that doesnt sound like heartburn. it's called heartburn because bile from your stomach rises into your esophagus and chest and burns like hell. i know because i have heartburn, and what you have is not heartburn my friend. you need to go to a completely different doctor and get checked the hell out.

Simple heartburn... goes away in under a day.

You probably have one of several possible problems...

1) Hiatal Hernia with reflux (most probable)
2) Acid reflux disorder
3) Stomach ulcer
4) Esophogeal ulcer

Note that #1 or #2 can cause #4...

Try Pepcid Complete chewable antacid tablits.
They can't really hurt anything... if you don't take more than 2 a day.

They CAN virtually eliminate #2... and if you have #4 caused by #1 or #2.. its likely to cure that too.

If you have the Hiatal Hernia with reflux... you may need to use antacid therapy for the rest of your life...

If you have reflux and it is causing esophogeal ulcers... untreated that can lead to a form of cancer.

If the Pepcid doesn't give significant relief within 2 days... you had better be in the ER.

Get some Tums or Malox or something like that. When you have these symptoms, take one or two. If the pain goes away quickly (I mean like within a minute) it is heartburn. If not, then it's not heartburn! Simple as that. Ibuprofen will not help heartburn. If Ibuprofen does help, then it's not heartburn! (Ibuprofen -causes- heartburn in some people!)

It does sound to me like a muscle strain. Ibuprofen would be the thing to take for that. A muscle strain can take a long time to go away. It should hurt when you use that muscle, like when you bend down to pick something up, or try to get out of bed or something like that. If it starts to hurt when you are just sitting in a chair, then it's probably not a muscle strain.

Heartburn is very painful but it does not last for a month. I think there is more to it. But if it is heartburn then don't fill your stomach too much because heartburn is caused by a weak valve which lets the stomach contents including hydrochloric acid get into your osoephagus. Sleep with your upper body higher than usual. Eat food that is easy to digest. Don't take Nexum. In general, most chemical remedies are bad. For quick relief, drink water to flush the stomach contents back. It also helps very much to take a Valium but there is risk of addiction. This is NOT medical advice. Have a good talk with you Dr. You seem a bit too young to have this problem for so long.
