What do actual chest pains from your heart feel like? |
I was born with heart disease...a valve problem.....but just wondered how I could tell actual heart chest pains from those of other causes. hm, well, i always have chest pains...it feels like a knife poking at your insides....it hurts sometimes, but it goes away. a Knife ... and lots of pressure It feels like an elephant is sitting on your chest and it's very hard to get air. It feels like the sternum(chest bone) is about to break. Valvular problems normally don't cause chest pain. True cardiac pain varies from person to person but many describe it as crushing or like a weight sitting on their chest. It often rediates into the neck, jaw or down the arms. Sometimes the person is short of breath and is often sweaty. and then in lies the problem. you cant tell alot of times if it is heart vs say GI related. women in particular have it rough as they can have atypical cardiac pain. if you are having pain in the "heart" region you really need to check it out. FYI valve problems as a rule don't cause pain. |
