Is there a Dr out there?

My father had a complete valve replacement op done on his heart 7 years ago, he was 80 at the time. On his death this year an autopsy had to be performed due to his sudden death. It revealed that his heart was totally diseased, would this have been apparent at the time of the valve replacements or not? If so, why did they carry on with the op during which he had a stroke?

I don't want to sue anyone I just would like my mind sorted as to the reason why.

Sorry to hear about your father, my heartfelt condolences.
Replacement of valve is by itself a desperate measure to save life/ improve quality of life. You didn't mention how long he survived after operation and for what medical complaints?
Autopsy is done to find the probable cause of death, and carries weight in criminal cases only or other malafide intentions.
Regarding stroke it occurs in 10% of cases, it means conditions of heart was poor.
This is extremely brief reply, to convince your all diseaes have a natural couse.

Sorry to hear that. Report It

go see a lawyer about medical negligence

Diseased heart is non specific about the condition and it is very difficult to predict the conditon of your dads heart 7 yrs back unless the condition is known.......but i am sure the doctors wouldnt have gone ahead with the surgery unless they were pretty sure that his heart was otherwise normal.....because operating on a fully diseased heart would be too risky for them for the money they get for it......i hope this helps you

Leukemia, you have to feel the pain of dying. And you never know when death is coming. But really anything fatal is pretty bad.

your doctor recommended you stop smoking for a reason. if you have heart disease the nicotine from the tobacco is slowly eating away the muscle. I would recommend you look up a picture of a smoker...
