Q. for medical professionals?

there is probably no answer for this but, i'll ask anyway. during heart transplantation, provided the new heart is perfectly healthy, what could cause the left ventricle to stop working after being placed in the body?

Probably could be a million reason, of course.
But, one I thought of would be the recipient's automatic defense mechanism are rejecting the new heart.

We were talking about things like this at work the other day and we were discussing how some parts from a pig's heart can be used for heart patients.
I hope your question is purely theoretical and you or a loved one has not been experiencing such a problem.

bad left ventricle

Tissue rejection after a time but there are plenty of ways the heart could have seemed healthy in the donor but have been badly damaged during his death or in the operation that could lead to heart failure.

lack of blood flow
improper electrical impulses
tissue damage
rejection
improper connection to aorta
damaged bicuspid valve
