What problem one may face if he/she is is having a hole in his/her heart? |
if one is having a ahole in his heart, will he face a lot of problems in his day to day life? what's the actual procedure to cure it? is heart transplantation may be used in this case? My husband had a hole in his heart. He wasn't suffering complications, just a little short of breath when exercising, but he was pretty healthy. He had it closed this April by a fairly new method. They inserted a catheter in his leg vein and threaded it up to his heart. They used a device that looks like 2 opened umbrellas attached to each other and sandwiched the hole between the two (hard to describe). It's made of wire mesh, but after 3-6 months your heart grows new muscle around it closing the hole. it was very minimally invasive, he was back to work in 3 days. This was for an ASD hole, not a VSD which is more complicated. Technology is making this easier to treat, so don't worry! difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath etc...just to name a few. Erm, I think surgery to close the hole will suffice...transplantation?not that i've heard of such drastic measures for this condition...hope whoever it is who has this ailment recovers soon enough |
