Stinging pain from heart surgery stitches? |
It's been 7 months since I had open heart surgery for 5 bypasses. The scar on my chest seems to be bothering me more now than after surgery. I keep getting stinging pains along the scar. The stinging is on the outside where the scar sticks out, not inside my chest. Has anyone else ever experienced stinging pains in scars? I had a quadruple heart bypass last August or 6 months ago. Every day I have a similar chest pain and tenderness where the incision is. I've been told that it will last for quite awhile and not to worry, unless the pain becomes unbearable. For me the pain comes on stronger, once I quit working and sit down for the day. I'm still in cardiac rehab too. I use ice and I use these patches which help a great deal. They have a very mild pain reliever in them. I would talk to your doctor of course. I wish you luck. I did after a breast reduction my doc said it was my nerves healing. I still have it happen 21/2 years later. After my last open heart surgery I felt the same stinging pain.. It was more at the top of the scar and sometimes it was itchy as well. When I told my doctor about it, he said it was just some of the nerves healing, nothing to really worry about. As long as you are not having pain in your chest I wouldn't worry about it. If you do start to have pain in your chest, i would go to the doctor.. |
