After heart surgery in 1980, does it sound normal to have been made to take extremely hot baths? |
I am trying to figure out why I was forced to take extremely hot baths after my corrective heart surgery in 1980? The baths were so hot I could not feel my skin, I turned beet red, and I would have to be held up by the nurse because I would go unconscious. I was 5 and 1/2 years old. Cardiac surgery, especially for children is often performed by inducing hypothermia in the patient. After surgery the patient is "rewarmed". Today they often use water blankets, perhaps in the early 80s they used actual baths. |
