My friend needs to have heart surgery. His 02 level are low. How can you increase his levels so he can have i

Due to his low 02 levels they won't give him the heart surgery he needs. Is there anyway to increase the levels? He is already on 02 around the clock.

lower his carbon dioxiode levels and how to that is unknown but ask.

If his oxygen levels are low, it is a sign of severe lung disease or severe heart disease.

It is very likely that he will not survive the surgery if his heart and/or lungs are in that bad shape.

Heart surgery (and I am guessing that he needs coronary bypass surgery?) is a very stressful operation. It does not do any good to revascularize a heart that is already mostly dead, or put someone through the surgery if he won't be able to come off of the ventilator. It just means his last days will be spent full of tubes and hooked to machines.

The only thing that can be done is to try to medically optimize his condition. If he gets well enough for the surgery, the doctors will go ahead. If not, he needs to do the best he can without the surgery.

Sorry that I can't give you better news. Good luck to you and your friend.

has your friend been diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)? because if yes, O2 levels are deliberately lowered because of hi condition. too much oxygen is dangerous, you cannot just increase oxygen levels to maximum even if your body needs it. even for a normal person -- too much oxygen can kill.

if a person has COPD -- something is obstructing their airways, for example in asthma -- the airways constrict -- the reason why we keep the O2 levels low is because when airways are obstructed -- they can breathe in all those oxygen, but they canNOT exhale it all out -- so carbon dioxide is trapped in their lungs -- and this results in a very acidic blood. and when blood is too acidic, this affects other organs -- our organs are like dominoes, when one fails, the rest will fail as well.

maybe the reason why they would not operate on him is because of his condition. it could get worse. how old is your friend? has he been smoking a lot? the symptoms you listed above sounds like symptoms for a person with emphysema. Oxygen is very low (even deliberately), and needs heart surgery -- im guessing his heart is already failing because of the condition. and probably his lung condition came in first and affected his heart -- so another reason why they don't want to operate on your friend is because they want to address the bigger problem first (the cause of every symptom).

Pursed-Lip breathing (blowing out a candle) this opens the alveoli in the lungs and allows more oxygen to be exchanged for Co2.

Supplemental Oxygen (more oxygen) if his SpO2 levels are too low, they simply need to give your friend more oxygen.

its not due to the low 02 level alone. thats why he has a low oxogen level, he needs a heart, most likely its due to his poor health ,and the survival potential, they want him to survive this operation, its expensive and timely. if his chances are small then why waste the heart, we all have the right to a fair life, but in these cases, the person who will better improve with a new heart gets it, and money of course, good luck,
