Slight Heart Murmur and Doctor Not Giving Me Info On It?

I recently went to a new doctor and she matter of factly mentioned that I had a slight heart murmur.I said no body has ever told me that I have a murmur. She said it was nothing and I ask if I should have test, and she said no .She said it wasn't anything to worry about and even she had a murmur.I ask her to tell me what kind of murmur it was and she changed the subject because she new that I was already anxious and now im obsessed with the murmur and worry alot and wonder if I can still do the things I used to do before without having a heart attack. The reason originally I was at the doctors office was that I was hearing my heartbeat in my ears all of the time and she found that my ears were blocked and I needed to see an ent.I was worried that maybe a artery was causing me to hear my heartbeat but she made me think that it was all because of the tubes blockage in my ears.I just wonder if she is waiting for the ent to find a blockage in my arteries or its just really my ears?

heart murmurs are very common, and most people have them and don't know it. they do worsen with age sometimes. what that means mostly is if it does get worse then if you have dental work you may have to go on anitbiotics so that you don't get endocarditis which is an infection in the valves of the heart. if she thought it was significant though she would have sent you to a cardiologist. as far as the heartbeat in your ears that certainly could be because of blocked ears. that is the pressure that is built up because they are blocked. an ENT would not be listening to your heart, they only check out your ears, nose, and throat, that is why they are called ENT's. you are probably to young to worry about a blockage in your arteries which is entirely something different than a heart murmur.

Most heart murmurs are present at birth and are harmless. MIne is so slight that not all doctors will notice it! Get a 2nd opinion if your worried but it really is very common.

i have a heart murmur and i can promise you it is nothing to worry about and it should cause you no problems at all. its fairly common. don't smoke, don't get obese and try and be healthy - but these are all things we should be doing anyway.
if you are still worried please do see your GP and ask for some more information. a heart murmur will not cause a blocked artery and will not mean that you can hear your heartbeat.

Calm down!!! The ear blockage and the murmur are two separate things. Ask her for a referral to a cardiologist. I actually had the same problem but no doctor ever diagnosed it but a cardiologist. I had an echocardiogram which is like an ultrasound and I also had a stress test where they injected me with dye and you walk on a treadmill. You should have this diagnosed properly. I found that I have two leaky valves which are slight and he told me that Ihave probably had them since birth. Now, I have to antibiotics before dental procedures. If the doctor does not want to give you a referral, then I would certainly find a new doctor. It is good to be properly diagnosed to have a baseline. By the way, I am also a nurse so I know these things.

First of all, calm down, you're gonna be okay...I have the Prolapse, and it's unnerving sometimes, but it's not gonna kill me (Or you). You need to calm your nerves, that's your main problem right now - Anxiety is gonna hurt your body more than the heart murmur ever will. What you need most right now is Peace of Mind from a doctor, and it sounds like your Dr. is not very good at giving you that. So you need to see a new Dr who can talk to you and give you some more information about your heart rhythm to empower you...That will in turn calm your anxiety and make you feel better overall....

there are some murmurs known as: innocent murmurs..
u're murmur might just be 1 of them?!

sounds like she wae right, i have had a heart mumer since birth and so has my daughter it really is nonething to worry about.

A murmur is usually begnign, I have a heart murmur and was allowed to join the Army and still have it but I don't worry, You should get your dentist to perscribe antibiotics before any procedures. Relax.
