Will a heart murmur cause these?

I was born with a heart murmur that doctors said I would grow out of. As far back as I can remember, having gone to check ups and had physicals for high school sport, etc, the doctors have never mentioned me having a heart murmur, so we (my family and I) assumed it had indeed gone away. My boyfriend and I discovered not too long ago, however, that either I have never grown out of it, or it has come back. Do heart murmurs cause unusually high fatigue? And, I can sit down and eat as much as my boyfriend (a LOT). He's 6'2" and weighs 240 lbs, and I'm 5'0" and weigh 98 lbs. Would a heart murmur have been causing an inability to gain weight all these years?

A heart murmur doesn't go away. I'm surprised your doc.s never kept an eye on it for you. Being able to eat as much as your boyfriend without gaining weight, just means you have a fast metabolism...doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong with you...
I have an aunt, who is 66 & has always been able to eat anything she wanted without gaining any weight...I'm jealous.
It would be a good idea to get a check up & see what is going on with your body...

A severe heart murmer may cause mild fatigue, but it most likely wouldn't affect your ability to gain weight. Have your thyroid checked. Hyperthyroidism causes weight loss (or an inability to gain weight) as well as fatigue. This website talks about hyperthyroidism in more depth. Your doctor can run simple blood tests to check your thyroid. http://www.endocrineweb.com/hyper1.html
You should also have your doctor evaluate your heart murmer to see if it is in fact there, and how severe it is.
