Soft systolic heart murmur?

no stupid answers plaease and its a stressfull time as it is with out silly comments..

I have a soft systolic heart murmur and yes when you first find out it is extremely scary, but i was told that i probably had it all my life it was just the pressure of my heart providing for the baby that gave my the palpitations, during pregnancy normally it does not bother me and causes no problems in normal life, i know you are scared but please try to stay calm if not for yourself but for your baby, and getting wound up before you see the consultant will only make it worse, i have had two normal pregnancies and births, with no more than palpitations, the murmur is just a soft whistling noise as your heart pumps blood, it sometimes is so slight that nothing needs to be done about it, it is just because you are pregnant that they need to check it out, try not to worry about it too much, although i know that is easy for me too say, wait to see what the consultant has to say before you panic, i hope all goes well for you best of luck honey

Yes it is common in pregnancy due to volume overload. This is picked up during ANC visits and necessary echo is done if the physician or Obs doctor see it as something important to cover. Usually it is not pathological and would go away after delivery, but worth investigating in some situation.

not had anything like that. just very high blood pressure, before and even after the birth. have another word with your doctor of midwife if you are worried.

Oh yeah why it is something to check out, it is most likely nothing. When a person is pregnat their blood volume goes up. Which causes higher "cardiac preload". Preload is the amount of blood returning to your heart. This can cause your valves to leak very slightly. This will most likely go away after your pregnancy. ;-)
