Fast Heart rate and heart Murmur?

I asked this question earlier but it wasn't really adressed, in the fashion i was asking. Basically my question is... has anyone had these symptoms, taken a stress echo test and been diagnosed with anything.

I'm just curious what kind of things I could be looking at, that need correction.

As previously stated. Whenever i'm active my heart rate sky rockets. can bet up to 200 (i'm 18) its been this way my whole life, but I didn't realize it was abnormal until someone brought it to my attention.

I was diagnosed with a loud heart murmur which could signify not enough chambers or a faulty valve.

also, I have heart valve problems in my immediate genetic line.

I was just curious if anyone else has had this problem out there. I'm just curious what it could be.

And I have a stress echo test on monday soorry i forgot to add that

Hi. I, too, experience the same symptoms. I have heart murmurs and palpitations since i was a kid. My normal heart beat is at 100 per minute. When i am stressed, it could go to as high as 130bpm. I was even sent to the hospital twice for this condition. If your condition is similar to mine, you might have a mitral valve prolapse (MVP). It is a heart condition where your valve's flap (closing) is loose and does not close properly after your valve pumps the blood out. The tendency then is for the blood to get back in. I was told that it is not critical though. My mom has rheumatic heart disease (RHD) and her right valve was replaced five years ago. RHD, i think, is a more serious condition but her symptoms are similar to mine. I suggest you go see a cardiologist right away. you will be advised to take an ECG exam and a 2D Echo. Go check also any article on mitral valve prolapse.

The only way to answer your question is by seeing a doctor. Sorry. They'll have to perform a cardiac catheterization and explore your heart and what's going on with it. A murmur indicates that your heart isn't working properly, but there's no way to know why without being examined.

There are a lot of people who have this condition. You need to keep your weight down, monitor your blood pressure and get moderate exercise. It does not mean you are going to have any serious problems with your heart, but it does mean you should seek medical attention if you experience bad chest pains. You should also speak to the doctor about taking antibiotics 4 hours before any dental procedure, even cleaning. This is because bacteria sometimes enters the bloodstream when you go to the dentist and it could cause an infection around your heart. Other than that, you should be able to function normally.

I mentioned weight because I know that that can be a problem for some people who have heart problems. Here on Yahoo, no one including myself would have a way of knowing what you weigh. We are all trying to be helpful to you, so there's no need for you to get arrogant. I never assumed that you are an idiot.

I was born with a heart murmur and all my life had problems with my chest while in school p.e. classes or running outside with my brothers. I always assumed it was because of the murmur that my heart would race so fast that I would lose my breath. When I was about 24 years old I started having these blackouts where I would be doing normal things; i.e. blow drying my hair, standing up too fast, etc., and waking up to paramedics in my face not knowing what had happened. I spent numerous weeks in i.c.u. and had my heart monitored. They found nothing. From that they sent me to a neurologist who did countless tests and found nothing. Three years later I was in an abusive relationship and woke up one day to him beating me. Last thing I remember was a blow from his fist to the back of my head. Woke up to CPR 3 different times. When my EKG/ECG was done I was informed that I had W.P.W. (Wolff Parkinson's white disease). This can go undiagnosed for yrs won't show on EKG and most of the time takes your heart stopping for it to be found. My heart raced and tacked at 200. It is genetic and my daughter also has the same type of racing and such as I had-doctors can not diagnose after numerous tests she's had because it doesn't show. I too as well as she have faulty valves as well.
there are certain waves that your heart sends on a EKG. They just don't show always.

Heart murmurs are not that unusual. These are simply (as you note) abnormal heart sounds. Most murmurs are nothing to worry about. There are about 30 or so different kinds of sounds that doctors make a note of. Tachycardia (an abnormally high heart beat rate) is more of a concern from a cardiovascular perspective. Exercise to increase heart rate is all part of staying physically active and fit, however, you should see a doctor to undergo a controlled stress test on your heart to determine if your heart murmur in combination with the tachycardia should be a concern for you or not. A simple EKG printout during a standard stress / exercise test, will provide you with the info. you need to determine if diet, exercise prescription and/or medications are needed to avoid any future unwanted cardiac events. In general, this doesn't sound like a serious condition or problem to me.
