Heart Murmur in an adult? |
I went to the Dr. yesterday for a check up due to some problems I had been having. I had been very fatigued and having blurred vision. Also had been having this unusual cough. During the physical he heard a heart murmur. I am 26 years old and this is the first time my dr. noticed it. So he is sending me for some kind of test to see what is causing it cuz he said it causes him some concern. So my question is what is this test and does it sound odd that they are just hearing this now when I am 26 and have never heard it before? ( Been going to the same Doc since I am little) I was diagnosed with murmur at the age of 17 when I went for my air force physical. I decided not to join and that was that. Never had anymore problems until the age of 43 I started having palpitations , chest pain ,irregular heart rhythms ,very short of breath(non smoker) extreme fatigue. I went to the hospital twice in the back of an ambulance had two stress tests before they finally found that I had a congenital heart defect and a prolapsed mistral valve. Things I was born with! But I have not had symptoms my whole life. So maybe you can be able to find out it is something simple (we hope, and non life threating). Maybe all you need is some medication . Good luck to you. There are many different tests they can be doing, if you know the specific test name I will be able to give you more info on it. |
