Heart Murmur? Please!?

My doctor said I have a heart murmur? Is this really bad, what can it do to me later on in life?

No this is not really bad, its a very common finding. About 1 in 5 people have a murmur. Most are benign meaning they will not kill you, but they can put you at risk for infection when you get your teeth cleaned. Not all murmurs carry that risk so it is important to get an ultrasound of your heart, called an echocardiogram to determine what type of murmur you have and how severe it is. That will establish a baseline for change as you get older. Murmurs can worsen with age so if you have insurance get an echo.

Greyhounds mom,yes you can have pain with a murmur. It can be caused from a heart valve that leaks and or is narrowed, altering the heart size, thickness, and pumping function. Yes it can cause pain and sometimes weird heart beats. Get an echocardiogram to put yourself at ease and don't worry. Report It

It may not mean anything, many murmurs are not a threat to health. If you are concerned ask for a scan which will reveal the functioning of the valves. This will detect if they are closing properly or leaking.

It depends on what kind of murmur you have. If you are young this may be normal. It also depends on if you have any other medical conditions. Ask your doctor to explain to you what kind of murmur you have (which valve is affected) and if there are any symptoms you should be aware of.
Good luck!

babies have them all the time some grow out of them and some dont dont worry

Hey dude, how about another experience around 2:00 to 2:30 Pacific Time/West Coast. I think I found some pictures of my body.
