Heart Murmur? Please!? |
My doctor said I have a heart murmur? Is this really bad, what can it do to me later on in life? No this is not really bad, its a very common finding. About 1 in 5 people have a murmur. Most are benign meaning they will not kill you, but they can put you at risk for infection when you get your teeth cleaned. Not all murmurs carry that risk so it is important to get an ultrasound of your heart, called an echocardiogram to determine what type of murmur you have and how severe it is.
