Do you have a "heart murmur" and what were the major complications? |
My 11 year old boy Ty (Chase_Phebes on YA) has a heart murmur and he has been checked yearly with an "echocardiograhm" this time though, they're worried about a prolasp of the right vent into the left vent, possibly. You know, heart murmurs are like bullet wounds. You really cannot compare them. Whether they're something bad or not depends on what's causing the murmur. I know everyone here is being kind, but to compare their murmurs and your son's is a meaningless exercise. I have a prolapse of the mitral valve - with backflow of blood I do have a heart murmur & I also have Mitral Valve Prolapsia & have no major problems. The doctor seemed to think that many years ago, I may have had Rheumatic fever, thus ending up with a heart murmur. Surgery is rarely done when MVP is diagnosed. Since I have MVP, I have to take antibiotics prior to having oral, abdominal, & vaginal surgeries. The medicine keeps bacteria from getting into the bloodstream. As long as the doctor(s) say your son can lead a normal life & engage in sports, then allow & encourage your son to do so. All the best to your son. :) I do not but my daughter does, one of the after-effects of anorexia. She has a benign mitral valve prolapse and the main thing for her is that she has to take antibiotics before any dental work. N`o'. !!?!! Not that I've ever been told of that I can re`call !! Last thing I remember is being told that all "My vitals seem to be <``a``OK"!?!>~!!. Hi Babe, Hey Shad, No, I don't have a heart murmur A heart murmor is usually detected at a young age. With time it may cause you problems as an Adult. If you ever feel light headed and disoriented sit down or you will pass out. The next sign is increased heat rate. At this point see a Physician and have the procedure peformed to check for blockage. This is done by an incision in the vein of the right leg and the monitor will show any signs of blockage. If there is blockage then they perform an angioplasmy where a stint or stints are placed within the heart or the artery. Healing time is two days. Hi Shad i have had a murmer for 8ys that i know of and i know some are good and some are bad. With your son going to the children's hospital they have the best surgeons and specialists and with them and all your love and prayers your son will be just fine.I am a single mom of a 10ys old boy; and i worry so much about him; espesally if he;s ill.My prayers are with you sweetie and God Bless your whole family and try not to worry to much; as he;ll be just fine...Peachie 1 nope but i do hav a heart & hence i wish he shall b able 2 play again. |
