What's a heart murmur and is it...?

dangerous? I just found out I have one. I'm 20 and the doctor told me it was no big deal, just make sure I remember that I have one in case someone asks me again in later life. I eat waaaaay too much sodium, so I'm scared it's already clogging up my arteries. I also heard that someone with a heart murmur could have a heart attack if they smoke marijuana. Is that true? Should I avoid marijuana for the rest of my life?

Not smoking anything would be good for anyone.
You may need to tell other DR' some medicines can make the problem worse.
My 18 month old son has a heart murmur and i have been told it may even heal itself by the time he is three. I have been told not to give him any restrictions or special diet.
The way it was explained to me is he has a small whole in his heart. I was told not big enough to operate. I'm guessing yours is similar in size or else your Dr would have suggested an operation. You may have been born with this condition not everyone gets early detection and with medical advances they are finding things they never found before. A murmur is not a death sentence so relax. If your Dr is worried there is are tests they do where they can actually see the hole using ultrasound. I've seen my sons and they filmed it so they can compare its size later.

a heart murmur is where there's an abnormal blood flow through your heart. my sister has been living with it since her birth and she's fine. but she doesn't do too much strenuous activity.

Smoking anything isn't good but if you are gonna smoke pot I think that's better than cigarettes. I used to have a heart murmur and no longer do. I drink probably too much and like my smokess and I'm still here. But don't listen to anyone but your doctor is the best advice.

a murmur is were a bit of blood spits out of the valve and goes the other direction........

Ask more in for by typing in murmur on google.
