Was anyone else born with a heart murmur?

I have questions if u were. Is it differant if u have a heart murmur to smoke cigarettes or weed. Is it more of a threat to you're heart? And also when u go to the doctors every other year do they do urine testing for drugs??

Well mine is a lil worse. I have the umbrella divice cause my heart murmur was really big. And its not exactley a drug test i dont think. they just make me pee in a cup and check for something else... i dont know if drugs will show up tho.

Most heart murmurs are innocent: They are caused by blood flowing through healthy valves in a healthy heart, and do not require treatment. However, heart murmurs can be caused by blood flowing through a damaged or overworked heart valve. Heart-valve defects may be present at birth or heart-valve disease may result from other illnesses, such as rheumatic fever, heart disease, heart attacks, or infective endocarditis.

Cigarette smoking decreases oxygen to the heart, increases blood pressure and heart rate, increases chance of blood clots, damages cells that line coronary arteries and other blood vessels, so definitely smoking cigarettes causes many problems to the heart. All of the above causes the heart to work much harder than it should.

Marijuana can also increase your heartbeat ( I really could not find any affects of Maijuana on the heart, all I could find was that it could increase your heart rate)

They will not do a drug test unless your parents ask them to. Drug tests are not really done unless requested by you or your parents, or place of employment.

If the Doctor is testing for drugs, chances are it is at your parent's request. This has nothing to do with you murmur. There are different types of murmurs, some serious and some not, but usually they are not serious. All it is is that one of your heart valves is not fully closing. Again, sounds worse than it is in most cases. In mopst cases, smoking should not have much of an affect

People can be born with heart murmur, usually indicates they have heart problems. Depends on how loud the murmur is and when does it occur, that's how cardiologist find out what the problem is. And use drugs (legal and illegal) will not cause heart murmur. But of course it will show on the urine drug screen test. Usually doctors won't order it unless there's suspension or someone need a medical clearance for work then they will order one.

heart murmurs can b caused by lots of different things i hav 1 caused by a vsd (hole in the heart). it doesnt affect but i dont really no if it makes smoking worse.

Heart murmurs are common, especially with mvp (mitral valve prolapse.) Smoking makes it worse, and also contributes to artery blockages. Urine samples are not routinely drug screened, unless your doctor requests that it be checked for drugs.
