HELP, Congestive heart failure & pneumonia, how serious are these two conditions together? |
Congestive heart failure & pneumonia; I need to know how serious these two conditions are together, for a 54 year old male, that is considered morbidly obese, with high blood pressure and poor diet. hi~~~~ REPORTED! Hey you! I am so sorry to hear about your Dad being ill. I just lost mine in September and I am still deeply depressed over it. Being an ex-EMT I can tell you that pneumonia is easier for those with CHF to develop. It's been a long time since I've worked in the field, but I found some great info for you on CHF and I think it will answer some of your Q's. It is very informative and discusses all aspects of it, treatments, and even a bit about pneumonia. You are so welcome and I am glad that I could be of some help. I pray your dad will get through this and for you to be strong! Have a wonderful day as well. =) Report It Of course this is a serious matter. You really need to be discussing this with his Doctor. CHF is a serious condition. Add to that multiple other medical conditions (obesity, pneumonia, high blood pressure) and unfortunately it is not a good combination. Hopefully your dad is getting good care. There are medications which can help with his heart function, antibiotics for the pneumonia etc. the combination of all those factors is very serious, but only your father's doctor can realistically make a prediction about the chances that he will pull through. I suggest you go to your father and be there for him through this ordeal. I'm so sorry for his pain and suffering and hope that he is healed soon and has another chance. If it gives you any hope, I have an 86 year old grandmother who has been living with congestive heart failure for about the past 5 years. She has an iron will to live, and has battled through a tough bout of pneumonia before. But it takes a lot out of a person. |
